Fooocus vs ComfyUI in 2026: which should you use?

Fooocus is the easiest way to make SDXL pictures. ComfyUI runs every new model, through node graphs. Which one fits depends on what you make, and there is a third option in between.

Short answer

Fooocus is simpler, but it is built only on SDXL and now gets bug fixes only. ComfyUI runs the newest models but uses node graphs. Cubric Studio gives you Fooocus-style simplicity with ComfyUI's newer models, free.

Fooocus: simple, SDXL only

Fooocus was built to feel like Midjourney on your own computer: type a prompt, get a good SDXL picture, almost no settings. It runs even on a 6GB laptop graphics card. But it is built only on SDXL, and its own GitHub page says it is now in limited long-term support with bug fixes only. For Flux and newer models it points you to other tools.

ComfyUI: every model, node graphs

ComfyUI runs nearly every open image and video model, often the day it is released, and gives you total control. The price is the node graph: workflows, custom nodes and model files you install and wire yourself.
