Guide ยท AI change outfit and hairstyle

Change a character's outfit, hairstyle or age with AI, and keep the same character.

Changing clothes in one photo is easy. Changing them on a character and keeping the face, the build and every view the same is the hard part. Cubric Studio does both, free, on your own PC.

Short answer

To change an outfit, a hairstyle or an age with AI and keep the same character, use Cubric Studio: edit a photo by describing the change, or use the Character Sheet Editor Flow (new in 2.1) to change all three views of a character at once.

Change the outfit or hairstyle in one photo

For a single picture, describe the change and only that changes: "give her a red leather jacket", "make his hair short and grey". Krea 2, FLUX.2 Klein and Qwen Image Edit all edit by sentence, and FLUX.2 Klein and Qwen can copy a garment from a second picture. To be precise, paint a mask over the clothes or the hair and change only that area.

Change a character's outfit, hairstyle or age across every view

The Character Sheet Editor Flow works on a character sheet (a front, a back and a close-up of one character) and changes one thing while the three views stay the same character:

Say it in a few words. For clothes, an accessory or a hairstyle you can add a picture to copy. The result is a new card, and the sheet you started from stays as it is. There is nothing else to set: the Flow carries its own tuned settings.

Make an AI character from your photos

No sheet yet? Character Sheet from Images turns pictures of a character you already have into one. Box the face in the first picture; add a full-body picture and the sheet takes its build and clothes. If it does not look like your character, run it again. Or describe a new character from scratch with the Character Sheet Flow.

Which model does the work

Most changes run on FLUX.2 Klein 9B, whose pictures you can use commercially. Body shape changes and ages of 12 and under run on Qwen-Image 2.1, and Character Sheet from Images can use either: Qwen-Image 2.1 follows a body picture best, but its pictures are not for commercial use. Both run on your own graphics card; FLUX.2 Klein 9B wants about 16GB of video memory.

AI change outfit, hairstyle and age: questions

How do I change an outfit in a photo with AI, for free?

In Cubric Studio, describe the change ("give her a red leather jacket") with Krea 2, FLUX.2 Klein or Qwen Image Edit, or mask the clothes and change only that area. It is free and runs on your own PC.

Can AI change a hairstyle and keep the same face?

Yes. An edit by sentence changes only what you ask. On a character sheet, the Character Sheet Editor changes the hairstyle on the front, back and close-up together.

Can I change a character's age with AI?

Yes. The Character Sheet Editor changes the age on all three views of a character sheet. Ages of 12 and under run on Qwen-Image 2.1, whose pictures are not for commercial use.

Can I make an AI character from a photo?

Yes. Character Sheet from Images turns a face picture, plus an optional full-body picture, into a front, back and close-up sheet of your character.

Can I copy an outfit from another picture?

Yes. In the Character Sheet Editor, add a picture of the clothes, accessory or hairstyle to copy. For a single photo, FLUX.2 Klein and Qwen Image Edit take extra reference pictures.
